Prostitution racket in Mumbai: Minor detained, 3 arrested for luring girls from poor families into flesh trade
The Mumbai Police busted a flesh trade racket that targeted girls from poor families living in the eastern suburbs. While three have been arrested, a minor has been detailed by the registered. The police in Mumbai have busted a prostitution racket where girls from poor families were lured into the flesh trade. While three have been arrested by the police, a minor was detained.

As per the report by the Indian Express, police are looking for more people involved in the racket. The report revealed that around four minor girls were pushed into the flesh trade.

The police got to know about the racket when a 16-year-old girl, who had been pushed into the flesh trade, became pregnant.

When the hospital found that the minor was pregnant, it alerted the local police station.

On the basis of the statement by the girl, it was found that a 25-year-old woman had paid her to go with another man to a lodge in south Mumbai.

A case under charges of rape under the Indian Penal Code as well as sections under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and the Prevention of Illegal Trafficking Act was registered.

While the 25-year-old woman was arrested on Tuesday, two were arrested later as per statement, including the owner of the lodge.

The police also found that a male friend of the 16-year-old girl was involved in convincing her to visit the man, but since he’s a minor, he has been detained.
An officer was quoted as saying by IE, “These girls come from poor families the parents work as labourers. The accused would befriend such girls and spend money on them to get them used to a certain lifestyle. Later, when the girls needed money, the accused woman would lure them into the sex trade by promising money.”

β€œWhile we know about four girls, we suspect more girls from the area could have been lured in a similar manner,” the officer added.
