AUGUST 22: Election Expenditure Observer Arshdeep Singh, in presence of District Election Officer (DEO) Harvinder Singh, on Thursday, chaired a significant meeting here in the conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Doda.The meeting was attended by Returning Officers (ROs), Deputy District Election Officer (Dy DEO) Doda, District Treasury Officer (DTO) Doda, heads of various banks, and other key officials.The primary focus of the meeting was to review and discuss the financial management and expenditure monitoring mechanism for the upcoming Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections 2024.Expenditure Observer Arshdeep Singh emphasised the need for strict adherence to the Election Commission of India’s guidelines regarding election expenditure. He also highlighted the importance of transparency and accountability in maintaining the integrity of the electoral process.During the discussions, DEO Harvinder Singh provided detailed instructions to the ROs and other officials on implementing effective expenditure monitoring at the grassroots level. The meeting also included discussions on the role of bank heads in ensuring that all financial transactions related to election campaigns are closely monitored. Additionally, the importance of coordination between various departments and agencies for smooth and efficient conduct of the elections was stressed.The meeting concluded with directives for the officials to ensure timely submission of expenditure reports, strict vigilance on election-related expenses, and prompt action on any violations. The officials were also reminded of the need to maintain the highest standards of professionalism and integrity during the electoral process, as the upcoming Assembly Elections 2024 are a crucial event for Jammu and Kashmir.
